When you visit a web page or use a web application online to do something, the ease with which you get to do that is because of the behind the scenes work that is done by programmers creating lines of code.
If you do this daily, you know better than most that having the best technology available helps make your job much easier. The wrong monitor can make code hard to see or can tire out your eyes too quickly, reducing the quality of your work.
To that end, we put together this list of the Best Monitors for Programming in 2019 and wanted to share some of our favorites with you. First though, do you know what you should consider before you buy a programming monitor?
No? Let’s start there then!
What to Consider Before Buying A Monitor for Programming & Coding
Buying a quality monitor for programming isn’t as simple as going to your local electronics store and plunking down your hard-earned cash at the first one you see. You need to consider a few things first so you’re sure you get the best one for your work. Here are some of the things that you should consider:
Resolution
The resolution of the monitor measures how many pixels can fit onto your screen. A higher resolution means that the pixel as packed tightly together, making information much clearer and sharper. While most monitors are available in 1080p, some manufacturers have started releasing monitors with 4K resolution, taking things up a notch
You want to make sure that your graphics card and CPU support 4k. Without it, you’ll just end up having an extra expense for your business.
Size & Orientation
The size and orientation are important to take a look at as well. While usually measured on the diagonal, you might want a monitor that’s bigger or even matches your current setup. While some monitors will offer a rotation feature with their monitor, checking to make sure can save you a headache later.
Most of all, you want to make sure that this monitor will not be too big for your desk. If you already have a monitor, you don’t want to hear something crash in the middle of the night
Stand & Flexibility
For every monitor out there, they each have their stand. Most stands that come with a monitor are angle-adjustable but can vary in the degrees it can be adjusted. You also want to make sure that you can adjust the height as well.
The last thing you want is a fixed-position stand. A comfortable viewing angle is different for everybody and having a fixed position may keep you from being comfortable while you work.
