Color Gamut
When it comes to photography, a monitor with a wide color gamut, which means that it can select from a palette of over a billion colors. If you’re using either 14 or 16-but RAW files in your work then you will want to have a monitor that will be able to display the subtleties that are contained in your work. Digital connections such as DisplayPort, DVI or Thunderbolt are a necessity as well as finding a monitor with an IPS panel and at least an 8-bit lookup table which will allow it to pull images from a palate of 16.7 million colors.
Integrated Calibration Tools
Many monitors will come with a calibration tool bundled with it and some come with internal systems that put the sensor right into the display.
