What to Consider When Buying A Dell Laptop
Considering what to look for in a laptop can come down to a few basic features of each laptop and whether or not they will satisfy the needs that you have. Because if they don’t, you’ll be back looking for a new laptop sooner than you really want to be.
Size
If the reason you’re in the market for a laptop is for portability, choosing one with a smaller screen will be a better option as those with larger screens can be much heavier and can become burdensome if you are trying to lug it around with you all day long. Smaller laptops are designed to be slimmer so that they weigh less, making them a great option for commuters.
Price
Everything we buy these days eventually will come down to price. We all want to feel like we’re getting a good deal because we work hard for the money we’re going to spend. Finding the right combination of price and the features that you are looking for to help you get your work done will help you feel much better about the money that you will end up spending.
Screen
While touchscreens have become the norm, there are many people out there who do not like using a touch screen and they feel the screen comes with too much glare. If you are that person, you may want to focus on the screen resolution so any art, video or pictures that you may be working on look their absolute best. A resolution of 1920 x 1080 should be able to provide you with an excellent resolution
Design
Laptops can come in a couple of different designs now compared to even just a few years ago. For many, having a laptop that can be both a laptop and a tablet can be very attractive depending on the type of work that you may do. Otherwise, a standard clamshell design may work best for you.
CPU
The CPU is the brain of your laptop and by far one of the most important components within its casing. Having a CPU that isn’t powerful enough to handle the type of work you do will cause more problems than you want to deal with. Because of this, if you are doing any kind of photo or video editing, we recommend looking for a laptop with an Intel Core i7 CPU. This CPU is great for multimedia tasks and you won’t run into any annoying slowdowns.
RAM
The RAM inside your laptop lets you do multiple things at once. The more RAM, the more things that you can do but there is a trade-off. The more RAM you have, the more expensive the laptop will be and will drain the battery faster. Typically 4-8GB of RAM is a good place to start and has become a baseline for many laptops on the market today.
Hard Drive
Days of there being one type of hard drive inside your laptop are long gone. These days, there are two available options: HDD, which is a standard hard disk drive and SSD, which stands for a solid-state drive. While HDD’s are less expensive, they can use a lot of power while SSD’s, which are becoming the norm, are more expensive but deliver better performance and are more reliable.
